Decellularisation

By removing the cells and genetic material from flower petals, a ghostly white scaffold remains — a 3D extracellular matrix. This research explored repopulating that scaffold with a genetically modified, pigment-producing bacteria, creating a new kind of ornamental flower: a synergy between plant and bacteria.
